GCSF 0-6-0 #2299 - Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe |
Description: |
Here is an original photo taken by photographer H. E. Valentine of Gulf, Colorado & Santa Fe Rwy switcher #2299 built by Baldwin in 1924. Not much information on the internet about this loco but thanks to Chuck Zeiler's research efforts, we now have a background on this loco. Built by Baldinw in September of 1924, this fireless 0-6-0T loco was numbered as seen here, GC&SF #2299. In 1946, it was renumbered 9299 and eventually ended up on the ATSF roster. Original specs - serial #57955, class 2299, psi boiler pressure of 65 lb, 30x24" cylinders, engine weight of 171,800 lb and a modest tractive effort of 32,000 lb. It was scrapped on April 7, 1948 at the ATSF Cleburn yards. Thank, Chuck, for your help!!! |
